**English Short Story:**

 In a distant kingdom, ruled by a benevolent king, the people enjoyed years of prosperity and happiness. However, one year, the clouds withheld the rain, causing severe drought and famine. The crops failed, and people suffered immense hunger. The king, deeply saddened by his subjects’ plight, sought the help of learned sages. They suggested performing a grand ritual to appease the rain gods. The king led his people in this endeavor, organizing the ritual with sincere efforts and prayers. Moved by their unity and devotion, the rain gods finally showered blessings upon the kingdom, bringing back the much-needed rain. The land flourished once again, reminding everyone of nature’s power and their dependence on its mercy for sustenance. 

**Tamil Short Story:**
