Timed Internet plans with WAN with setup of SAN at Internet accessible residential - ISP connectivity

A WAN (wide-area network) is a network that connects multiple LANs (local-area networks) or other networks over a large geographic area. A WAN can provide high-speed, reliable, and scalable storage access for mission-critical applications, such as databases, email servers, and virtualized environments12.

A SAN (storage area network) is a dedicated network of storage devices that provides block-level storage access to servers and applications. A SAN can improve storage performance, availability, protection, and management by using specialized hardware and software34.

Timed connectivity plans are internet plans that offer a fixed amount of data usage or bandwidth for a specific period of time, such as a day, a week, or a month. Timed connectivity plans can help users regulate their internet consumption and save money by choosing the plan that suits their needs. Some examples of timed connectivity plans are JioFiber Backup 198 plan, Airtel Broadband Lite 199 plan, and BSNL Bharat Fibre Broadband Combo plan567.

To set up a SAN network at local residential premises, you will need the following components:

  • A SAN switch, which connects the servers and storage devices in the network.
  • A SAN storage device, such as a disk array, a tape library, or a flash storage system.
  • A SAN host bus adapter (HBA), which connects the server to the SAN switch.
  • A SAN management software, which allows you to configure, monitor, and troubleshoot the SAN network.

You will also need to follow these steps:

  • Connect the SAN switch to the WAN router using a network cable.
  • Connect the SAN storage device to the SAN switch using a Fibre Channel or iSCSI cable.
  • Connect the SAN HBA to the server using a PCI Express slot.
  • Install the SAN management software on the server or a separate management station.
  • Configure the SAN network using the SAN management software, such as creating logical unit numbers (LUNs), assigning access rights, and setting up data protection features.
