**Translation in English**:

If rain fall not, penance and alms-deeds will not dwell within this spacious world.

**Explanation in English**:

This verse stresses the importance of rain for the continuation of virtuous acts such as penance and almsgiving. It implies that without the sustenance provided by rain, even the noblest deeds cannot be performed, as all life depends on water for its survival.

**Story in English**:

A powerful king, renowned for his penance and generosity, ruled over a prosperous kingdom. However, a severe drought struck, lasting several years. As the rivers dried and crops failed, the king realized that not even his penance or the wealth he gave as alms could bring respite. This humbled him, making him understand the natural law that without rain, even the most righteous deeds cannot sustain. When the rains finally returned, the kingdom thrived once more, and the king's practices of penance and almsgiving were now deeply intertwined with his respect for nature.
